This event was part of the homecoming events and competitions. I participated in the chalk walk on October 15th with some students from the community council of Larzy/Trout. I didn’t originally know that this was one of the competitive events which was different for me because I’m neither artistic nor competitive. I signed up for this event because I thought it would be a really fun way to connect with the people who live in Larzy and to show school spirit. I was a bit scared about this one specifically because I didn’t know who else was participating. However, it turned out great. This event also allowed me to explore the creative life of our university which I really enjoyed. I was grateful that I was able to admire the artwork of other teams as well and the amazing artwork that Larzy/Trout did. We decided to go with an underwater theme and then remembered that the homecoming theme was superheroes. We managed to incorporate both in a couple of ways. But, we started with some sea creatures and we also added some underwater superheroes and a super president Bob Davies that was on a boat. Even though I’m not very artistic I loved that I was still included and felt like I was doing something and helping. We also actually ended up winning homecoming which is awesome. But, during this activity, we just had fun and drew some chalk artwork on the sidewalk. I’m glad that other people enjoyed it too. We had an amazing lobster, octopus, trout, some little schools of fish, and some sea plants. We also had a super SpongeBob, super president Bob Davies, Mermaid Man, and Barnacle Boy. It was really cool to step back and look at everything put together that we did as a team. It felt great to be able to be a part of that and to feel involved at the school. I thought it was an amazing way to show school spirit and make new friends while having fun. I learned how important it is to be involved in the school because there are some really fun ways to make a difference.
